Philharmonic OrchestrasThe Philharmonic Society was established during the years of the British protectorate. The British did not allow the military bands to go to the processions or hold any religious ceremonies regarding different religions. The philharmonic band of Corfu was established in 1836, but the officially birthday year was 1840. The Philharmonic Society of Corfu used the colors of the Ionian Flag for the society’ s flag and the uniform of the members and still does today.
