The locals were attracted by the recreational team game and showed great interest in learning the sport. The British volunteered to teach them and it took only 12 years for the Corfiots to learn the game and created two local groups to play with the British.
The cricket games are organized every year in the central square of Corfu, Esplanade, as well as in the court of marina in Gouvia. The Greek Cricket Federation was founded in 1996 in Corfu is a member of the European Cricket Council as an affiliate member and also a member of the International Cricket Council.
